• Root canal treatment is extremely painful • While this may have been true several years (maybe even decades back). Modern technology and anaesthesia has made the experience far less painful. Most root canal treatments are not extremely painful.
• Root canal treatment can cause you illness or make you extremely sick. • This claim has been commonly found on the internet and nothing can be further from the truth.
• Better have a tooth extracted than have it treated with a root canal • One commonly observed statement in dentistry states the following "Perpetual preservation of what remains is more important than the meticulous replacement of what is missing." Foundations of dentistry have been laid on this statement. • A Root Canal Treatment preserves the existing tooth and there is no suitable substitute to an existing natural tooth.
• Root canal treatment is very expensive • If you consider the costs of having a tooth removed and replaced, the cost of a root canal treatment would seem very small.
